How They’ll Talk About Me

How they'll talk about me
Yes how they'll talk about me
When I'm gone

He was quite the artist
And had the gift of song
And he was always kind
And full of sage advice
And never did a single someone wrong
Is this really how they'll talk about me
When I'm gone?

He spoke well in public
Despite a nervous tick
And he knew a lot of something
For a lowly country hick
How to frame the perfect moment
From the thousands I could pick

I didn't know he was sick
It all happened so quick!

Is this how they'll talk about me when I'm gone?
Like we talk of everybody when they're gone
I suppose I won't care as my skin and my hair disintegrate
By then it will be too late to care
With my brain and my spine and my heart stripped bare
I won't be anywhere
And it won't matter much what they talk about
Once I'm gone
And so,
So long!
