Meteorites

Every day they wake up, have a cup
And their hearts are filled with grief
Sit around work all day and the lights are dim

My boss don't give a damn who I am
'Cause he's a lying thief
I'm just another cog in the wheel to him

The meteorites are falling down without a sound
And the powers that be
Just waffle and flee and frown
The meteorites disintegrate and dissipate
And the powers that be just slap their knees
And say it's an act of fate

What else can you do when you live in a shoe?
You just sing the blues
When there's nothing left to lose
And nothing to win
They slap you on the back and say
"Have a great day
Boy, you really paid your dues"
Then they throw your well-picked bones into a bin

The meteorites are falling down without a sound
And the powers that be
Just waffle and flee and frown

There's no need to explain
We all feel pain
We're all hurt hard by this
An then they turn their backs on us
And tell us to seal it with a kiss
